The Ministry of Budget and National Planning has organised a five-:day Specialised training workshop for the staff of the Ministry and its parastatals on change management.
Declaring the Workshop open on Monday in Abuja, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mr. Olajide Odewale noted that since the inception of the current Administration, Nigeria has been undergoing a period of change, to restore the value of governance and adopt the best practice of doing business for the greater benefit of the country.
Mr. Odewale stated that the need to change the old order and institute a more progressive, transparent and accountable leadership in Nigeria has made it imperative to embark on various reform initiatives by the government and driven by the Ministry.
He also said that as a leading policy making and implementing institution in Nigeria it is important that the Ministry is properly equipped with human capital resources in order to be able to deliver on its mandates, arguing that this understanding has led to the various reform initiatives currently going on in the Ministry.
According to the permanent secretary, a team of experienced and skilled Resource Persons were carefully chosen to impart the participants with requisite knowledge and broaden their understanding of the topic.
Speaking also at the Workshop, the Director of Reform Coordination in the Ministry, Dr. Anne Nzegu disclosed that the training programme is designed to further build and sustain the capacities of staff of the Ministry and its parastatals to be able to share and exchange experiences, sharpen their skills, acquire knowledge and effectively implement the various reform initiatives the ministry is undertaking.
She added that the knowledge and skills acquired from the training will ultimately equip and add value to the ability of the Ministry as a policy making body and ‘’ Think Tank’’ of the government to align the ongoing reforms with the overall policy thrust of the country.
