NO PART OF THE COUNTRY WILL SUFFER NEGLECT - FG


The Honorable  Minister of State Budget and National Planning,Hon. Hajia Zainab Ahmed has reiterated the Federal Government's resolve not to over look any part of the country in the course of delivery on its programmes and policies irrespective of political and geographical differences.

She made this assurance today, Thursday 12th July 2018 at the commissioning and handover of Ecological Fund Project in the Federal University (Dr.Alex Ekweme) Ndufu Aliko Ikwo LGA of Ebonyi State.

She informed that the project which was one of the eighteenth Federal Government's Ecological Intervention Projects, approved *by* President Buhari for the first quarter in February, 20I7; was awarded by the Federal Executive Council on 5th April 2017. This underscores the Federal Government's concerted effort and sincerity of purpose, in keeping faith with the promise.

Hajia Zainab further explained  that the Federal Government's execution of the Ecological Intervention projects across the country was to demonstrate the sincerity of purpose of the President Buhari led administration towards entrenching justice, equity and fair play and sundry.

She pointed out that the Ecological Intervention would bring a huge relief to the university community and improve the lives and learning standard of students and staff which have for a long time been stressed by the Ecological challenges.

She therefore implored the university community to Cherish the project by preventing indiscriminate dumping  of refuse in the drainage channels to ensure it's maintenance and sustainability.

Hajia Zainab congratuted and commended the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Mr. Boss Mustapha and his team at the Ecological Fund Office(EFO), the Vice Chancellor of the university, the contractor as well as the consultant for thier doggedness in ensuring timely and speedy completion of the project.

Speaking earlier, the Permanent Secretary of Ecological Fund Office (EFO), Dr Habiba Lawal who was represented by the Director of Soil Erosion Control Engr. Okeke informed that the request for urgent intervention was forwarded to Ecological Fund Office by the Vice Chancellor in order to arrest the flooding and erosion menace being experienced in the University as well as to prevent further environmental degradation, loss of lives and properties.

She said that the commissioning and hand over ceremony was intended to achieve a dual purpose of enabling the university community take over and exercise ownership over  the project and to ensure it's  care, maintenance and sustainability.

she appreciated the Governor of the state, His Excellency, Engr. Dave Umahi, the Management staff of the University as well as the contractor/consultant for their cooperation.

In his earlier remarks at the event, the Vice Chancellor, Professor Chinedu Nwajiuba commended the Federal Government for the intervention project which has brought relief to the community and afforded a more conducive atmosphere for learning.

Also present at the event is  the Governor of Ebonyi State, Governor Dave Umahi, represented by the Commissioner  for Environment Mr Donatus Njoku.

The scope of the project comprises the construction of asphaltic roads with lined drainages,walk ways and culverts.
