Validation of Nigeria Gender Responsive Planning and Budgeting Framework

The UN Women Representative to Nigeria and ECOWAS Ms. Beatrice Eyong was in the Ministry earlier today on a courtesy call on the Hon. Minister of State for Budget and Economic Planning Dr. Doris Uzoka Anite CFA.

The purpose of the visit was to give a progress report on the development of the Nigeria Gender Responsive Planning and Budgeting (GRPB) Framework. This is with the intention of getting next steps towards validating, finalizing and institutionalizing the framework.

Ms Beatrice Eyong noted that the UN Women remains committed to supporting the Ministry in advancing inclusive planning and budgeting systems that promote equitable and sustainable national development.

She expressed hope for a continued partnership as both organizations work together for the implementation of the Nigeria Gender Responsive Planning and Budgeting (GRPB) Framework.

The Minister of State for Budget and Economic Planning Dr. Doris Uzoka Anite promised that the Ministry would review the draft framework after which the next steps of validating, finalizing and institutionalizing the framework would be done.

The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning Dr. Deborah Odoh in her welcome address appreciated the partnership existing between the UN Women and the Federal Government in advancing inclusive, equitable and sustainable national development. She also noted that the UN Women has remained a strategic partner, providing technical expertise and unwavering support in promoting gender equality and empowerment of women and girls in Nigeria.
