Nutrition Department

The Role of the Nutrition Department include the following:

Serves as the national focal point for the coordination and harmonization of all food and nutrition-related policies and programmes being implemented by the various Ministries Departments and Agencies (MDAs), and development partners; 

Ensure that such food and nutrition programmes are consistent with the goals and aspirations as outlined in the National Food and Nutrition Policy; provide day-to-day support that will enhance the effectiveness of NCN;Coordinate the review, continuously, of policies and programmes concerning their potential impact on food and nutrition issues;

Ensure effective implementation of different policies and programmes by putting in place effective machinery for M &E. Coordinate the analysis and dissemination of results of important food and nutrition data;

Advocates for adequate financial provisions and timely release of allocated funds in all relevant Ministries.

 Clearing house for development assistance to complement government resources for food and nutrition implementation in the country. 

 Interfaces with the State Committee on Food on Nutrition (SCFN) to ensure that they adopt the National Policy on Food and Nutrition at the state level and also develop a costed plan of action on food and nutrition as well as every other role as performed by NCFN at the Federal level
